Is Ghisallo Racing and Club a place for you?

Do you enjoy cycling, on the road or the trail? What about racing your bike on the road or the trail? Do you run just for fun, to stay fit, to compete in a 5k or a full marathon? Have you ever thought about doing a triathlon or have you already done several including ironman? If you have answered yes to any of these questions then you need to continue reading to find out what we are all about.

Ghisallo Racing and Club has brought runners, cyclists and triathletes together to make St. Louis' most unique racing team and club. As a member, you will receive information and be able to participate in all three sports. You get to choose what information and events are important to you. If you are more interested in non-racing events, there is the Ghisallo Bike MS Team, Memorial Day Family and Charity Rides, family pinics and trail rides, bar-b-ques, chilli cookoffs, fitness getaways, indoor heart rate training classes during the winter months, nutrition clinics, group runs and rides for all levels, special bike demos and many more programs only availble to members. If racing is more your thing then you will want to participate in bike racing 101, strategic bike racing, racing as a team, strength training and nutrition clinics for endurance athletes, half and full marathon training groups, open water swim clinics, transition clinics, brick training for triathletes and even more than you can imagine. All members are very supportive of each other regardless what you want to accomplish as a member. The mixture of different abilities and goals allow each member to learn from each other. A runner who wants to cross train by cycling has every opportunity available to learn and particiapte while improving his/her run. Cyclists that have thought about doing a triathlon can participate in relay team or learn how through all the triathletes and training clinics made availble to them. Triathletes wanting to improve their run or bike can work with advanced runnerss and cyclist to get better. If you just want to ride or run for enjoyment and fitness benefits then you have just surrounded yourself with over a hundred others that enjoy the same thing. Other benefits come from our sponsors. THF Realty helps us promote cycling in our community, supports our racing teams to provide opportunities to accomplish their goals and has even partnered with our bike racers as our Pro, 1, 2 team giving up and coming bike racers the chance to take their racing to a whole other level. Chris Milesky owner of Off the Front provides training programs and clinics to improve the fitnees abilitiesof all our members. St. Louis Physical Therapy owner Mike Gorman helps our members recover from accident or injury to keep on going. Dr. David Crane of Crane Sports Medicine finds ways to fix and heal injuries with little down time and a non-invasive approach. CMS Communications and East Side Transportation and Barge Company share our enthusiasm for these sports and provide us the financial support to give our members all the opportunites available to them. Our title sponsors, Ghisallo Sports and Running , give all members extremely generous discounts at their stores to ease the costs of participating in these sports whether we are do it for fitness, racing or recreation.

From the Fit Stage.........

Women Specific Saddles

If you are having saddle discomfort, it may be that you are using a saddle that isn’t designed to support you properly. Bontrager has a Women’s Specific line of saddles that may do the trick. The saddles come in 3 widths to allow a perfect match to your sit bones. The rear curvature of the saddle is customized based on the size of the saddle for optimal seating support as well as having a custom tuned shell for support and comfort. The superlight ZONE DENSITY foam adds support and compliance to specific areas it is needed most as well as having a Contour Relief Zone that provides added relief for women’s specific needs. So if you are having saddle issues, call us, make an appointment and we can determine if the saddle you are currently using is the right one for you. Then we can make suggestions and any necessary adjustments for you to get as comfortable as possible.

Saturday Ride

Starting March 9th the Saturday morning ride is going to experience some changes for the better. At 5:45am Shawn O'neal will lead an elite ride. At 7:00am an advanced ride will go at an aggressive pace. Then at 7:30 a club member (any volunteers?) will lead out a recreational ride that will be no drop. Splitting the ride will ensure that anyone that wants to ride can and it will help to keep the rides from becoming to big. All are welcome to any of the three.

Trivia Anyone?

This is how I usually look when I have to answer a Trivia Question, but I still go to Trivia Nights; three times a year. Why you ask? They are fun! You get a group of friends together, everyone brings their favorite snack, wine, beverages and have a lot of fun trying to figure out the answer to questions about anything and everything. By the end of the evening you have eaten way too much, maybe drank a little too much and have laughed at how much you do or don't know.
So why should you come to our Trivia Night? It's a great cause, we will have awesome prizes, really great silent auction baskets, the above mentioned; it's really fun and we plan on making it a very entertaining night. Think about it, you could go to the movies and spend way more than $20. So, why not use that money for a good cause? Let's help these athletes with great potential do something awesome with their talent.
If you would like more information or would like to buy a table, please call Ghisallo Sports at 636.728.1511 or email olivia@ghisallosports.com

Join Our Team

Be sure to sign up early to reserve your spot on the Ghisallo MS150 Team. Becky Paese has volunteered to be our Team Captain and has our team spot reserved. Just click on the Ghisallo MS150 Team link and it will take you to our team registration. It only costs $25 to registar and each member will need to raise a $250 minimum donation.

Many of the team members have already participated in this event in the past. However, with our team will will have major support. First we will have a trainer that we give us a week by week training programs to prepare us for the ride. Our group rides will offer opportunities to get you training rides in with friends working towards the same goal. We will also have some special events to help us in the fund raising process. My hope is that we work as hard at raising money for the cause as we do with our training.

The number of people living with multiple sclerosis increases every hour of every day. This astonishing rate is not going to diminish, nor will it stop, until we've found a cure. Research has made some incredible advances recently, but the world can still only offer disease management drugs and therapies to the 400,000 people living with MS in America. We've formed a team for the MS Bike Tour because we know that riding 150 miles is nowhere near as difficult as confronting a lifetime with multiple sclerosis. The National Multiple Sclerosis Society gives us all reason to hope, though. In addition to supporting novel research projects around the globe, they also provide much needed education, programs, and services to everyone who is affected by MS - including the diagnosed, their friends and families, and the healthcare professionals who work with them.Join our team as a cyclist or a volunteer! Make a donation online! Send in a check! Talk to your employer about becoming a sponsor of the MS Bike Tour! There are so many ways to make a difference in the fight against MS, and it all begins right here.
